Welcome. You've taken a big step by deciding to look for someone to help you. Now you need to find the right therapist to meet your needs.

I'm Ralph Cahoon, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker  and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I'm experienced in helping people address a wide variety of mental health and/or substance use problems. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, depression and substance use. I also work with couples on relationship issues. I believe everyone can change for the better with appropriate effort and assistance.

The most important factor in therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. I strive to make that relationship safe, open and honest. This means that counseling needs to be an ongoing dialogue between the client and therapist, not a lecture.

Prior to my work as a therapist, I served as a police officer for 26 years. Due to this background, I especially enjoy working with law enforcement officers and other First Responders, as I understand how hard their jobs are. But anyone seeking help is welcome.

My primary therapeutic approaches involve helping people learn how to think and act in healthier ways, to focus on solutions instead of staying stuck on their problems, and to find meaning in their lives. Therapy should provide you with tools and strategies you can use in the real world. I use a variety of counseling techniques because everyone is different and there is no "one size fits all" mode of therapy that works for everyone.

Picking a therapist can be difficult, so I provide prospective clients with a No-cost 30 minute informational meeting, which allows both of us to see if it feels like a good fit. I offer daytime, evening and teletherapy appointments.

Please call or email me to set up a meeting.

Thanks for stopping by and best wishes......Ralph
